These Girls Shine

Layout number 3 this week - woo hoo! I'm hoping that my plan to print my photos at the end of each month will mean I scrap more - the fresher the memories are in my head, the more inclined I (hopefully) will be. Here is Tabitha with her bestie, off to their Wakakirri performance - they are a couple of crazy girls & so well suited to each other.

Materials used:

Cardstock: Kaisercraft, Bazzill
Paper: Kaisercraft My Year My Story - Raspberry, Heidi Swapp embossing folder, Distress Glitter - Picked Raspberry, Heidi Swapp mini stencil, Kaiser Mists - Denim, Colour Shine - Pink, Thickers - Jewelry Box

Thanks for having a look, Tanya X
Pals

Well, I must be on a roll! I have managed 2 layouts in 1 week - insert happy dance ;) This layout is for this month's challenge over at Scrap The Boys. I love the fact that I have both a boy & girls, so I can mix up my style according to how I feel. Sometimes, I want to get a bit grungy & sometimes, I want pink & flowers. As this challenge was a sketch, it was a bit easier to get my head around. I do find, however, that I tend to stick to the sketch & not deviate too much. Here, Jared is off to his first school camp with his best mates. I have hidden the journalling under the photo.

Materials used:

Cardstock: Bazzill
Paper: Kaisercraft Attitude
Embellishments: Crackle texture paste, Kaisercraft stencil, Dylusions ink spray - Melted Chocolate, Colour Shine - Gold, Bronzer, Distress Ink Spray - Forest Moss, Distress Ink - Frayed Burlap, random stamp, metal word plate, Sizzix dies, wood veneer word & embellishments, flair, brads, staples

At The Ballet

Well, it's been a while... sadly, I go through phases of creativity where for a few weeks I am on a roll, then all of a sudden there is nothing.. I had a 'need' to scrap & it was starting to frustrate me that nothing was coming to me whenever I sat down at my desk. I was determined to get my act together this week, and knew exactly where I should start. My awesome friend, Tania Ridgewell had showed me how to do a gorgeous mixed media canvas some time back, so I got it down from my shelf & let it inspire me to create this layout. I have made this for the White With 1 December challenge, the colour being Majorca Blue. Like every colour challenge, I pop into Google to get a good idea of what colour I need. However, Google did not know what this was...! I found a Hotel somewhere in the world with a similar name, but no Majorca. I just went with blue & came up with this. I personally love it! The fact that my daughter & Mum share the same blue eyes & their favourite colour is blue, made this the perfect photo to use.

Materials used:

Cardstock: Bazzill

Embellishments: Maya Road & Prima stencils, Crackle texture paste, Dylusions Ink Spray - London Blue, Colour Shine - Ocean, Kaiser Mists - Denim, WOW chipboard, Resin Rainbow embellishments, paper & fabric flowers, charm, Flair Studio flairs, pearl embellishments, Vintage Market alpha die, Dymo labeller

Life is Better with a Dog

It's been a little while since my last post, but here I am sharing my entry for The Flair Studio challenge group. The challenge was the colour grey, a funky flair & lace. This is my first entry for this challenge group & after collecting a few flairs, I decided it was time to join in. I tried to use some different techniques & I am always looking for new ways to use up my stash. So, everything gets pulled out until I find something that I may be able to use. I enjoyed using some of my stamps for a change - I seem to own a lot, but very rarely use them.

Products used:

Cardstock: Bazzill

Paper: Random scrap from my stash

Embellishments: Crackle Texture Paste, TCW stencil, Tattered Angels Chalkboard mist - Monolith, Colour Shine - Black Velvet, lace, metal, staples, hinges, brads, Charms Creations, Funky Flair, charm, Stamps - Kaisercraft, Paper Xtra/Sullivans, Bella chipboard alphas, Kasiercraft mini alphas, Making Memories alphas

It feels so good getting into the swing of regular scrapping. I get frustrated when I lose my mojo & let things get in the way of 'me' time. Today, I created this for Scrapsidaisy Scraplift Challenges number 143, the challenge being 'The Strip Challenge', where you had to use a 2 x 12 inch strip cut into 3 pieces. I used the striped paper for this & had the papers left over from a different challenge, which I love!

Products used:

Cardstock: Bazzill

Paper: Kaisercraft Shine Bright - Golden & Marigold

Embellishments: Kaisercraft Game On! sticker, Porta Craft decal, American Crafts letter stickers, Thickers - Marquise

Have you ever had a vision of how you want a layout to look? You know what techniques you want to use to achieve the overall feel? Yeah, well it didn't happen this time... I understood fully the whole concept of a 'challenge' with this one. This month, over at Kraft Plus Challenges, the challenge was a sketch & it was titled, the Tri-Hard challenge. Well, it was hard! Although it was not progressing the way I was hoping it would look, I continued on with it & challenged myself to 'go with the flow'. So, here it is - done but I'm not necessarily happy with the end result. Thanks for stopping by :)

Products used:

Cardstock: Kraft, Bazzill

Paper: Scraps

Embellishments: Kaisercraft stencil, texture paste, gelatos, Dylusions Ink Spray - London Blue, Making Memories rub-on alphas, paper clip, Project Life overlay

Until next time,

Here is my layout for White With 1's September challenge - the colour being Antique Moss. With hubby's input in some areas (something he doesn't usually take an interest in, so I went with it), the end result was a little different to what I had in mind, but I still love it.

Products used:

Cardstock: Bazzill

Paper: Kaisercraft Blae & Ivy - Valley

Embellishments: Tania's stencil, gel medium paste, Distress Stain spray - Forest Moss, Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Tea Dye, Couture Creations die, Thickers - Patchwork, paper & fabric flowers, Kaisercraft rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by :)

Here is my latest creation for the September 123 Challenge Blog - Burgundy, Super & Coloured Pencil. The photo is not the best, so it has been sitting in my album, unscrapped for the past couple of years... When I saw the colour choice for this challenge, I thought I would pull it out as it matched Jared's singlet for the Tea Tree Gully district athletics team.

Products I used are:

Cardstock: Bazzill

Paper: Bella Glitz - Light Gold

Embellishments: Texture paste, Kasiercraft stencil, Thickers - Marquise, pencils

Thanks for stopping by :)

After not using my blog for a while, I forgot how to upload my pics. But, thanks to my amazing 15 year old, I remember once again! :) Here is a layout I did for the Kraft + challenge site. The challenge was Zentangle, something I have never tried before. I was apprehensive to give it a go, but once I just went with the flow, I actually enjoyed it :)

Materials used:

Cardstock: Kraft, Bazzil
Embellishments: Tim Holtz Distress Marker, charm, K-Mart stamp, Prima alphas, Thickers words - Grace, Kaisercraft die

Saturday 18 April 2015

My last share for the night! This month over at Aussie Crafters the DT had to make a gel card! Not being a card maker, I initially struggled to get my head around such a small area to work on. However, after checking UTube for ideas, they didn't look as difficult as I thought. So, I quickly put this one together :) I was all pumped to stick everything down, when... I didn't have a zip lock bag the right size to put my gel in! OH NO!!! I looked high & low & when I eventually found one, it had a hole in it! So, the next day it was off to the shop to find one - not as easy as I thought. I eventually found what I was looking for in Spotlight, but instead of buying 1, like I needed, I had to buy 100! Oh well, guess what I may be making for the rest of the year?!

Materials used:

Cardstock: Bazzil Kraft
Paper: Prima scrap
Embellishments: Couture Creations embossing folder, Pan Pastels, Scallop die, plastic shells (from the op shop), Dylusions Ink Spray - London Blue, glitter, hand sanitiser (I didn't have any hair gel) & 1 zip lock bag!

Another share today & this one is of my dear, late father. I created this layout for Scrapsidaisy Scraplift Challenges Number 118 where you had to incorporate a triangle, a tag & a torn edge. I still have to add the date (I will have to ask Mum when this was taken) & some journalling. That will be the difficult part... Dad loved bush walking & we used this photo on his memorial booklet that we handed out at his funeral... I miss him terribly, even after 2 & a bit years...

Materials used:

Cardstock: Bazzil
Paper: Prima scraps
Embellishments: Gesso, Kaisercraft stencil, Tattered Angels Glimmermist - Monolith, Heidi Swapp Colour Shine - Gold, Bronzer, Dylusions Ink Spray - Chocolate, Tim Holtz tag die, Distress Ink - Frayed Burlap, alpha stickers, Thickers - Doll

Here, I would like to share with you my layout for Aussie Crafters DT Snazzy Sketch for March. I don't like to scrap photos of myself very often, but of late, I have seen a few groups on facebook & articles in magazines about not forgetting to record our life too - our grandkids will want to know who we were too. So, I stepped out of my comfort zone & being my first layout for Aussie Crafters, I thought I would put it out there.. I have been saving this paper for the 'perfect' layout, as I love it so much, and although I'm not a real 'girly girl', I thought, why not?

Material used:

Cardstock: Bazzil
Paper: Kaisercraft Kaleidoscope - Layers
Embellishments: Martha Stewart border punch, Kaisercraft stencil, Heidi Swapp Colour Shine - Gold, Couture Creations doily dies, brads, texture paste, Kaisercraft rhinestone words, Prima alpha stamps, fabric & paper flowers, charm

Huge hugs to you all X

Hi all, sorry I haven't been around much - we lead a crazy life! Time to sit down, have a cuppa (Caramel Latte is my favourite!) & try to update my blog :)

First, I have to share with you is my OTP DT project for Aussie Crafters. This month we had to create a diorama with the theme of Under The Sea. When I think of diorama's, all I can picture is the type you make in school, with an old cereal box & bits of string! Then, I stumbled across an article in Scrapbooking Memories, where Chantel Vandenburg had created a diorama in a mason jar. After getting glue EVERYWHERE! I ended up with this little piece. I love it & am planning to make some more.

Materials used:

Mason jar
Sand (borrowed from the school sandpit)
Shells (from my collection)
Aquarium deocoration (Ariel)
Sequins
Prima paper flowers
Twine
Pearl bracelet ($1 from the op shop)
Pearl flower accents
Charms

Here is my take on this month's challenge over at Kraft +, All That Glitters. I love working with Kraft & when I saw this photo of my eldest daughter all ready for her Year 7 graduation at her previous school, I loved the way the colours just worked. I love using this technique of the punched strips of paper, so easy but so effective. I have to thank Linda Eggleton for this inspiration in a recent copy of Scrapbooking Memories. I was heart-broken though when one of my favourite punches broke half way through the making of this layout - now I must hunt for another one ;) My plan is to make a Project Life page for the other side, to use up the rest of the photos - you can't not put in the one of the kids in the limo! :)

Product used:

Cardstock: Kraft
Paper: Scraps from my stash including Prima, Kaisercraft & Bo Bunny
Embellishments: Washi tape, Kaisercraft pearls, generic acrylic stamp, Thickers - Rockabye, Prima flock alphas, Prima Say It In Crystals rhinestone flourish, paper doily, twine, acetate hearts, metal embellishment, Distress Ink - Tea Dye, metal slide

Well, after a stressful 24 hours where I somehow deleted my Scrap Layouts folder in Picasa, I have finally managed to at least get my Chunky Book page up & loaded... So, here it is :) Having never done something like this before, I was unsure where to start. But, once I started spraying the ink around, the page kind of took on a life of it's own... I fully understood the term 'challenge' for this one! ;) Head on over to Aussie Crafters & check out the exciting challenges they have this month & their Under the Sea swap, & why not give it a go...? ;) I'm not participating in the swap this month, but hopefully will be next month.

Products used:

Embellishments: Martha Stewart scallop punch, Kaisercraft stencil, Gesso, texture paste, Heidi Swapp Colour Shine - Gold, Dylusions Ink Spray - London Blue, Fresh Lime, trinkets, shells, gems, fish stickers, Life Is a Beach Cricut cartridge

Just want to share with you once more, my project for Aussie Crafters Off the Page - anything Easter. I bought my daughter a WRMK envelope punch board for all of the cards she was making. However, she no longer has time to make them, so I have inherited it! :) I love using it & wanted to make my OTP as something useful (I am just a practical girl at heart, you know) ;) When I found these cute little baskets, I just had to make them. They took all of 5 minutes to make & you can get 4 out of one 12x12 sheet of paper. After filling them with eggs, I thought I may have to keep them & give them to the kiddos for Easter.

Products used:

Cardstock: Scraps
Paper: Pink Paislee Hey Kid paper pad
Embellishements: Ribbon, hole punch, computer printed text & Chocolate!!!

I am so happy to share with you my first project as part of the Design Team for Aussie Crafters! I am not known for my card-making ability, so when I was asked to not only make a card, but a shaker card, I thought 'Oh no!". But, I was determined to learn & after searching YouTube for turorials, I came up with this! I am so happy with how it turned out :) Please head over to Aussie Crafters & check out their swaps, sketches (soon to be revealed) & awesome inspiration. Would love to see you there X

Products used:

Cardstock: Kaisercraft, Bazzil
Paper: Kaisercraft All That Glitters - Golden Easter
Embellishments: Nesting dies, Generic stamp, sequins

This week for Scrapsidaisy Scraplift Challenges Number 112, the theme was Oscar Fever. Using Minnie Mouse as my inspiration, I decided to go Project Life. I have only dabbled with it so far, so I'm not sure if I went to 'scrap-booky' or not, but I got the effect that I wanted. I'm am going to have to work on my photo-taking skills of my layouts as I can see I need to improve. X

Thursday 26 February 2015

Woo Hoo, here I am again, updating my blog! I may just become a computer whizz after all! ;) I want to share with you, my entry for a new monthly challenge at Kraft Plus http://kraftpluschallenges.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/february-challenge-mango-breeze.html. After starting this layout with stencils, texture paste & inks & sprays, I wasn't happy with how it was going :( So,  I turned the Kraft over & started again! I had seen a technique using Project Life cards on layouts, so I found these Becky Higgins cards that were just perfect for what I wanted to say. My next step now, is to see if I can link this up to the Kraft Plus blog - wish me luck! Thanks for stopping by & remember, Live Life then Scrap It! X

Here is another layout I did recently for Scrap The Boys January Challenge. I was unable to finish it before the deadline, so it wasn't submitted. However, I was encouraged to share it anyway whenever I did finish it. I love this range of papers & had fun doing this one.

Products used:

Cardstock: Kaisercraft & Bazzil
Paper: Kaisercraft Off the Wall- Tag & Wicked
Embellishments: Texture paste, Kaisercraft paint, Staz-On ink, Kaisercraft acrylic stamp, Tim Holtz page pocket, Kaisercraft stencil, metal embellishment, plastic from toy packaging, zip, metal tag from necklace, chipboard alphas

Hi all! I know I've been MIA recently, but I had forgotten how to upload here. Thanks to Miss 14, I think I now have it! ;) This is my latest challenge, uploaded for Scrapsidaisy Scraplift Challenges Number 111. The theme was Dr Seuss! I looked up some quotes & after Miss 9 decided on the one she liked best, it was so easy. I took a series of photos, printed them off & simply stuck & cut! One of the easiest layouts I've ever made.

Products used:

Cardstock: American Crafts, Bazzil
Paper: ?
Embellishments: Texture paste
